1000 Islands Parkway – Bring along your bike and enjoy a ride along 37 kilometers of magnificent paved bicycle path that stretches between Gananoque and Brockville. Called one of the finest bike paths in Canada, it meanders along the shores of the beautiful St. Lawrence River.
Bike to Rockport – This historic and quaint village is located 19 km from Gananoque along the Thousand Islands Parkway. Settled well over 160 years ago, the village features the impressive St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, (est. 1891), where a Blessing of the Boats is held each year. The two oldest tour boats on the river (circa 1928 & 1954) depart from the Boathouse Country Inn regularly for 1 and 2 hour cruises. Ready for an ice cream? The Top Side Store at Andress Boat Works will take you back to a time when summer holidays stretched endlessly……
Lunch at The Captain’s Table/Ivy Lea Inn – The Ivy Lea Inn sits on
one of the most beautiful spots in the Thousand Islands, just outside the
village of Ivy Lea on the St. Lawrence River. Directly at water's edge, the
old Inn faces a large bay dotted with small, tree-covered islands. Following
a morning day of river exploration, enjoy lunch overlooking the water on
the flagstone terrace overlooking the docks – beautiful food,
beautiful grounds, beautiful boats.
Hike Landon Bay – Just a 6 km ride down the scenic Thousand Islands Parkway is the Landon Bay Centre, a 225 acre Ecological reserve with an extensive network of walking trails and the best natural lookout of the 1000 Islands. In addition to about 5 km of hiking trails, the Gardens at Landon Bay are a collection of over 60 gardens including an agroforestry nursery, an herb garden, butterfly garden and an experimental bog. A nominal entrance fee is charged.
Swim at The Point – If you bring your suit, stop for a quick dip in the River directly across the road from the Landon Bay entrance. Known as “the Point” by the locals, it’s a small rocky beach that surprises with a sandy bottom once you’re in.
Turn right onto King Street from the Victoria Rose Inn parking
lot. Follow King Street through town, and follow signs for the “1000
